ABOUT RADON

What is Radon?

Radon is a cancer-causing, radioactive gas that is harmful to human beings. It is a silent killer. Radon is an odorless, colorless, and tasteless gas that is responsible for too many deaths per year and can easily be prevented by, first, having radon testing done.

Why Do I Need a Radon Test?

Similar to mold, radon exists everywhere. No environment is free of it. The issue begins when over time, the gas is enclosed in a small space and builds up. This built up gas is released through cracks found in your home. The only way to know if you and your family are at risk is to test for it. It is recommended by the Surgeon General and the EPA that Americans should have their homes tested to find how much radon could be present in the air we breathe.

WHAT IF I AM BUYING OR SELLING MY HOME?

For Sellers

Having a radon test done before putting your home on the market looks good to potential buyers and could speed up negotiations. It may also be nice to share the results of the test and any steps taken to mitigate the issue if any were needed.

For Buyers

Having a radon test done as a contingency is highly recommended. However if the seller has already had a test done it is your choice to accept the results or have one done yourself to ensure it was done properly.
